Jetty No1 Work Party, July 2016

Work on Jetty No 1.

Thanks for all the great effort guys!

“I am just a working man
Doing the best job that I can
Nine to Five, or Eight to Four
Do my eight and out  the door
Loading trucks to hit the road
Get ’em out with a full load
Doing just the best I can
I am just a working man”

Mike Smith’s Westerly Warwick launched into the River Wyre. Mike’s worked hard over the Winter/Spring 2015/2016 to get her into tip-top sea going order.  Sailing adventures out into the Bay can now be realized. Bravo Fifi!

Now waiting for the Morecambe Bay high water. There are no inequalities at Wardley’s,  ‘All boats get lifted by the tide’.

Designed by Laurent Giles in 1970 after the success of the Centaur the 21′  The Warwick was primarily designed for cruising. The Warwick was robustly built with bilge keels, full accommodation, and with standing headroom providing you aren’t taller than 5’10”. Whilst not as fast as her sister boat the ‘Westerly Jouster’, because of her long waterline length and tall rig she had a good turn of speed.

Heavy weather pint at the Ship Inn – July 2016.

On a windy day, Wardley’s Member Simon Ellis had the mad-cap idea of sailing over to the Ship Inn in his Sailfish 18 “Peter Duck”

Can you find the Ship Inn?

John Gorse rightly worried by such a folly, kindly offered the services of his much larger and more able Westerly 25.

Big waves everywhere. The Lancashire coast just a distant memory.

It was a scary couple of days to say the least.

They made it to the Ship Inn, but the weather was nothing like this photo!
