There are numerous options: –

  • River Mooring : on a buoy on the river for good sailing access
  • Jetty :  side on to a jetty with spring tide sailing access.
  • Mud berth :  can sail but mainly storage and maintenance.
  • Mediterranean Mooring :  mainly storage and maintenance.
  • On the HARD : either craned out or sat on a trailer.

I've been on the river on river for several years now. I usually set out to my boat an hour before high water. Sometimes I get a lift from members, other times I row out in my dinghy. I can sail away from the mooring on neap tides, although this requires smarter tidal timings.

True. Nothing like sitting on your boat listening to Radio 4 on the old Roberts , observing the shore-line waders digging for worms, whilst waiting for the tide.
